Location of King George's War

Also commonly known as the Third French and Indian War, King George's War was started in the New World, but the fighting also spread to Europe amoung the main countries who participated in the war ("King George's War").  Because both France and England had claims on the Ohio territory, the conflict over the land was one of the causes of the war (Gu). 

Dates of the Conflict

King George's War began on March 15, 1744 and lasted for four years. The war ended as a result of the signing of a peace treaty on October 18, 1778. The Peace treaty resored all pre-war borders to each European Country ("King George's War").

Leaders of the Conflict

  •  Sir William Johnson worked for the English England to bring the Mohawk tribe onto Britain's side ("King George's War").
  • King George II was the reigning king of England. 
  • The French armies were led by Father Jean-Louis Le Loutre, Father Pierre Maillard, Louis Du Pont Duchambon, and Pierre Morpain ("History"). 

Groups Brought into the War

The French, the Spanish, and the English were the main groups who faught in King George's War. Resulting from a war faught between the British and the Spanish, known as The War of Jenkin's Ear. When the French joined the war in 1744, they faught alongside the Spanish ("King George's War"). The British worked very hard to have the Mowhawk Tribe on their side; many tribes faught with either the French or British during all four French and Indian Wars. The Iroquois Indian Tribe played a large part in other wars faught between the French and the British (Balik).
